Irvine and Fleming gave me my start in the business. Initially

I made slipcovers, lots of slipcovers. Later they gave me some curtain projects. One of

the first – yes, one of the first – was this portiere for a Kips Bay showhouse. At the time, I was doing most of the work myself and was constantly under deadline pressure but for this job, I took my time and fully enjoyed the experience. It's hard to see, but the lining is plaid, and also, there

is a red binding under the open weave heading of the fringe. The stripe curtains are another Kips Bay.

Sometimes the same chair shows up in different settings. These started out in a dining room in NYC and

later showed up

in Nantucket.
